‘Rest to Reset‘ by Trash80 is one of my favourite pieces of music. Trash80 provided the music used in Darwinia, all low-tech electronic sounds reminiscent of early videogames. Rest to Reset was written and performed on 4 GameBoys, and recorded live. I think it’s beautiful.
This game is intended to provide an experience that supports that music, with everything that happens in the game happening in response to something in the music. Like an interactive music video. Or like Audiosurf, but sculpted just for this one track. It’s an experience rather than a challenge. Although you can treat it like a challenge if you want to – there’s a score of sorts displayed at the end.
You control a spacecraft as it launches from a planet and ventures on its first journey into space. It turns out space isn’t terribly friendly to you.

This is well fun!!
i like it
Great thing!
Congrats on the RPS bigging up!
Yeah, I got here from RPS. Will mention you on my blog, so that my 4 readers get the news too. Those of them that don’t read RPS, that is.
Well anyway, immersive, a real drama forms as you play. It certainly qualifies as an experience, as you say. This is how Audiosurf should have been done. Good job!
‘lo. Another person turning up from RPS.
I have to say, short as this is, I think it’s really quite beautiful, both to play and listen to. Thank you for creating this, and introducing me to that piece of music.
I think I’d even pay attention to pop if they offered interesting things like this with the music.
Fellow GM user here, awesome game. Do I get anything if I wait out the 17 hours to run out of air.
I’ve played this through quite a few times now and I’m enjoying it more and more.
The point of this game could be broken down into all sorts of possiblities. A re-presentation of the inevitable failure of life, perhaps? Blasting out into space with the guarantee of running out of fuel, and eventually, air. I like to think so.
If I am to take this as the concept, the music works perfectly. The build up of events along with the music is , well, epic. Just as life is. Obstacles in our path so to speak.
I think it’s truly an example of video games as an art form rather than a pass time.
Then again, it could just be a bit of fun.
But I like the impression it gave me.
Great job!

Very innovative concept and design! Any thoughts about porting it to iPhone?
This.
Hi,
Great game, thank you! After all the excitement and rockets died down I was reminded of Space Oddity by David Bowie, and felt a bit sad about the futility of it all.
Has anyone found out what happens when you run out of air yet?
So, what do you DO if something has gone horribly wrong?
Very interesting game. Very glad I stumbled across it. I’ve played it quite a few times since downloading it, and this last time I noticed two new things I did not come across before. I went left, and through my journey I saw ice(light blue and jagged) asteroids, and red asteroids.
I wonder – are there other things I have not seen yet?
And what happens when you run out of air?
This was so amazing! Absolutely brilliantly done.
when i hear about David Bowie, it reminds me of Vanilla Ice. “`,
